Installing

Download the edition for your format from thedownload page and run the installer. Windows 10/11 (64-bit) and macOS 14+ (Apple Silicon) are supported.

Recovering a password

1. Open PwDone and select your encrypted file.
2. Tell the app what you remember: a common password, part of it, or nothing.
3. Choose how thorough the attempt should be and start recovery.
4. When found, copy the password — it is also kept in your local history.

Only use PwDone on files you own or are authorised to access.

Licensing

A license key is emailed after purchase. Paste it into the app's license screen to activate it. No account is required. Purchases include one year of updates.

Troubleshooting

Windows shows "Windows protected your PC"

Choose More info → Run anyway. This warning appears when a build is not yet code-signed.

macOS refuses to open the app

Right-click the app and choose Open, or allow it under System Settings → Privacy & Security.

Recovery seems slow

Exhaustive attempts (long passwords, unknown characters) can take a very long time. Start with the simplest strategy that matches what you remember.
